Next time you’re sitting in the drive thru of your favorite fast food restaurant…consider these facts…..
Fast food is inexpensive, convenient, mass produced and pumped full of flavor enhancers and colorings to make it appealing and delicious to us..the consumer. These additives cause a trigger in your brain that makes you crave foods that contain salt, sugar and fats. These ingredients come highly processed in fast food as high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils. These three ingredients are known as trigger substances that keep you coming back for more. High fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils contribute to weight gain and increased bad cholesterol.
Monosodium Glutamate or MSG is a flavor enhancer commonly added to Chinese food, canned vegetables, soups and processed meats. MSG is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, one of the most abundant naturally occurring non-essential amino acids. . Headaches, nausea, increased blood pressure and heart palpitations are common side effects of MSG. It may also cause you to still feel hungry as well as ill after eating a large amount of food containing it.
Casein is a protein compound found naturally in Milk. In fast food it is created into a refined, concentrated form by adding calcium hydrogen phosphate to milk solids. Sounds delicious doesn’t it? Casein is the protein that triggers most milk allergies. A Casein allergy happens when your body’s immune system mistakenly thinks the protein is harmful and produces allergic antibodies for protection. The interaction between these antibodies and the protein triggers the release of body chemicals such as histamine that cause symptoms.
The list goes on and on….and none of it is good for you.
