After a long day or a great workout all you want to do is jump in a warm shower…ahhhh 🙂
Well…did you know taking a cold shower is better for you? I know..you think I’m crazy to even suggest it…but it’s true!

Cold water increases your metabolism by trying to warm up your body.
Good Circulation is important for cardiovascular health. Alternating the water when you shower between warm and cold water will help increase your circulation. Your veins and arteries constrict when your cold. Blood circulates more rapidly when you’re cold while trying to heat you up. 😉
Cold water has a stimulating effect on your brain. Research has shown that cold water stimulates the part of your brain that releases Noradrenaline which can ease Depression.
Hot water tends to dry out your hair and skin. Cold water makes your hair shinier by shutting down the outer cuticle layer and your skin look healthier by closing your pores. Cold water also helps detox your skin by pushing out toxins and waste from your pores.
When your body is cold it does everything it can to warm you up. This increases your metabolism…using more energy and therefore burns more fat….leading to some weight loss. 😉
A cold shower can also help you feel invigorated rather than sleepy and relaxed. Taking a cold shower in the morning can get your day going!!
Ice baths have been used for years by athletes to reduce inflammation. The constricting of your veins and arteries flushes out toxins and increases blood flow to affected areas. A cold shower is just the thing after a strenuous work out.
You shouldn’t just jump into an ice cold shower….gradually work up to it 😉 Try turning on the cold water after you’re in the shower for 30 secs or so and see what you think and how you feel.
